Titolo: The outer structure of galaxy clusters
Decorrenza: 11.05.2026
Descrizione:
Cosmological simulations have revealed a distinct feature in the mass density profiles of galaxy clusters known as the 'splashback radius' (rsp). This boundary is theoretically linked to a cluster’s mass accretion history (Diemer & Kravtsov 2014). Using public data from the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI), we aim to empirically test this prediction. We will identify the splashback radius within a cluster sample using the kinematic method proposed by Tomooka et al. (2020). Finally, we will evaluate how rsp correlates with current accretion rates, using the clusters' dynamical status—derived from both optical and eROSITA X-ray data—as a proxy.
