Stefano Borgani Receives the Lincei "Tartufari" Award

On November 7, the award ceremony for the international "Luigi Tartufari" prize was held at the headquarters of the Accademia dei Lincei in Rome. The award was presented to Stefano Borgani, professor of cosmology at the University of Trieste and associate at the National Institute for Astrophysics. The award is presented to scholars in the fields of physical, mathematical, and natural sciences who have distinguished themselves through innovative research and significant contributions.

The citation reads as follows: "His research in cosmology ranges from the study of the large-scale structure of the universe to constrain dark matter and dark energy models, to the description of the formation and evolution of cosmic structures using numerical simulations based on High Performance Computing methodologies. His studies on the cosmological application of galaxy clusters were among the first to highlight the importance of these objects for precision cosmology. At the same time, they underscored, for the first time, the necessity of thoroughly understanding the physical properties of galaxy clusters to fully leverage their potential in cosmological applications." «I am deeply honored to receive this award from such a prestigious institution as the Accademia dei Lincei. I like to think,»

Borgani concludes, «that this is a recognition not only for myself, but also for my close collaborators with whom I have shared so many research adventures, as well as for the young researchers I have mentored over the years, who have enriched my scientific life.»
