CONTACTS

OATs seminar organizers: Veronica Biffi (veronica.biffi@inaf.it), Guido Cupani (guido.cupani@inaf.it),Nicola Fusillo (NICOLAPIETRO.GENTILEFUSILLO@units.it), Emanuele Spitoni (emanuele.spitoni@inaf.it)

Secretariat: Gabriella Schiulaz  (segreteria@oats.inaf.it)

You will be welcomed at the observatory by your host, who will take care of the schedule of your visit. Please include all relevant contacts (seminar organizers, secretariat and your host) in communications concerning your seminar and your visit.

TRAVEL and LOGISTICS (if you are an INAF employee or associate, see instructions below)

The observatory will offer a flat travel allowance as a lump-sum payment determined in advance, intended to help defray the cost of travel and accommodation associated with your visit. This travel honorarium is not reimbursement-based and does not require submission of receipts.

You will proceed with booking your own travel and accommodation arrangements for your visit according to your preferences. For your convenience, we may suggest our current partner hotels, L'Albero Nascosto and Urban, both located at the core of the historical city center at <5' walk to Piazza Unità, and ~10' walk to the observatory (to take advantage of our preferred rates, please inform the hotel that you are visiting the observatory when making your reservation, using the code: "OSPITI INAF - TARIFFA CONVENZIONATA").

If reaching Trieste by train, you will get to the "Trieste Centrale" station in the city center. If flying to Trieste, the most convenient airports are typically either Trieste (Ronchi dei Legionari, TRS) or often Venezia Marco Polo (VCE), depending on your departure location. Trieste airport is connected to Trieste (downtown, central station) by train (~30'), bus (~50') or taxi. From Venezia airport (VCE), the easiest way to reach Trieste is by Flixbus bus (~2h, two direct connections per day) or by shared or private shuttle GoOpti .

Instructions for speakers from INAF institutes - both INAF employees, collaborators (AdR etc.) and associates ("associati INAF"): Speakers from (or associated with) any INAF institute will be subject to the INAF mission regulation (incarico missione dipendenti altri osservatori per OATS). They need to access Z-Travel (from the  "Servizi INAF" portal) and fill in the relevant form ("richiesta di missione") specifying:
- Luogo/oggetto: "OATS seminar, seminar date, seminar title";
- Travel policy: your choice between "Italia piè di lista" or "forfait pasti" (please ask us if you are not sure of what this means and of the related regulations);
- Responsabile fondi: Fabrizio Fiore;
- Struttura/ufficio: OA Trieste - Castello Basevi;
- Lista progetti: select "da definire" and write in the notes: 1.05.01.18.05 "Convenzione con Università di Trieste".
Travel, accommodation and meal expenses will be reimbursed by OATS according to the current INAF regulation upon presentation of the original receipts (make sure to keep them all!). For all reimbursable expenses, remember to only use traceable payment methods (credit/debit cards) - you will need to attach also the POS receipts / credit card statement to your reimbursement request. The only exception are tickets for local public transport (bus, metro/train). Original receipts attached to your travel claim will be stored at the observatory of origin.

SEMINAR

Seminars are held in hybrid format, in the Library seminar room at Castello Basevi and streamed via Google Meet, usually on Wednesdays at 11:30AM. The total duration of the seminar is one hour, including ~45' for the talk and the remaining time for questions and discussion. Please consider being in the seminar room half an hour before the seminar.

You can present from the local computer (pdf or PowerPoint presentation, no Keynote) or from your laptop, as preferred.

If presenting from your laptop: i) your laptop needs to be connected to the internet, if you do not have access to eduroam please let us know in advance; ii) you will need to use Google Chrome to join and present on Google Meet (we see frequent issues with other browsers), please make sure that you have Chrome installed and working properly; iii) if your laptop does not have an hdmi port, please take with you your usual adapter if you have one. In case of technical issues please be prepared to present a pdf (or powerpoint) of your slides from the local PC as a backup.

WIFI at the observatory is available via eduroam (if you can't use eduroam, please contact us).
